Skip Reed is a recovering “Lock ‘Em up and throw away the key guy”. Over the last four years, he’s spent meaningful and deeply personal time with families affected by incarceration, volunteered, and shared kinship at Homeboy Industries. When Skip met and talked to Tony and Sister, he found his home. He’s since developed deeper friendships with lifers than with friends he’s had his entire life. Skip is a retired entrepreneur who graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BA in Religion: Biblical Studies from Vanguard University and an MBA from Anderson UCLA *Fiat Lux*. He lives with his beautiful wife, Stephanie, who has kept him alive and mostly out of trouble since the day he met her. They’ve been married 23 years and live with their 90-pound dog Vinny in Topanga Canyon. Skip mostly sits outside, reads, watches all types of Birds, and thinks about things. Skip and Stephanie love listening to live music, playing poker, and walking Vinny. Skip remains impressed with God’s record mercy and wicked sense of humor, and the journey is just getting underway. Skip is looking for qualified Lock ‘Em Uppers to visit prison with him so they can meet lifers and reevaluate their position in light of their own recovery, spiritual path, and perhaps brand new friends.
