Encourage Each Other and Build Each Other Up
The Partnership For Re-Entry Program (PREP) is a Restorative Justice ministry in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. The goals of the program are to transform the individual to become productive members of society, reducing the populations of our jails and prisons to help lessen the financial burden on taxpayers, while making our community safer and stronger.
PREP seeks to improve the odds of success with re-integration of parolees back into community. The goals of the program are to transform the individual to become productive member of society, reducing the over-population in jails and prisons-- lessening the financial burden on taxpayers, while making our community safer and stronger and more productive.
There are over 10,000 inmates participating in PREP courses- in all CA prisons and in 11 states:TX, FL, NV, AZ, NJ, OK, OH, MS, KY, NY and OR. People get to know us mostly through word-of-month and inmates transferring to another facility. We write over 30 letters a month on behalf of a Lifer when they go before the Board for release. Our letters have been instumental in the release of approximately 500 women and men. In March, 2015, PREP partnered with Pastor Joseph Hamilton of One In Christ Church to open The Martin Home for 15 men. This is a transition home for released Lifers and for TUMI (The Urban Ministry Institute) men. We have 14 men in this home. We have a total of 7 homes.
