Frequently Asked Questions

PREP is a ministry of the Archdiocese of Los Angles. PREP serves both inmates and parolees, providing self-help, self-development correspondence courses, letters of support to the Board of Parole Hearing (BPH), prison visits that include workshops, resources and transitional services upon release.

The BEST way is for your loved-one to contact us directly. This gives accountability/responsibility. She/he can express what the need is.

We are very grateful to connect with family.  However as referenced above, REQUESTS are best addressed when they come from the loved one/inmate. We DO APPRECIATE volunteers at our PREP office.  Call 323. 299.9547.

There is no cost for your participation in PREP.  We DO LOVE donations of money/stamps.

PREP gives Recognition of Completion (RoC) in the format of the chrono. It is NOT the chrono that gives you release.  It is the change from WHO YOU WERE to WHO YOU ARE that gives release.

Some CC1’s will enter the RoC into the C file.  Verify this first. If the CC1 will enter the RoC into the C file, a SASE  must be submitted with the last lesson and the RoC will be sent directly. 

The norm is ONE.  (Our courses are designed for change.  When the work is very-well done, toward the end of one course another can be requested. 

PREP courses are often recommended.  Acceptance by court is dependent on the court and the person working together.
